What is Direct Pay and how does it work?

Our global network gives you access to directly contracted providers and facilities outside the U.S., many of whom agree to bill us directly so our members don’t need to pay upfront for care.

In many countries, healthcare providers want assurance that they will be paid before they treat you. With Direct Pay, we provide this assurance to the provider through a guarantee letter. This keeps you from having to pay at the time of service and file a claim to get reimbursed.

In situations where you wish to see a provider outside of our network, you can still request Direct Pay before your visit.

If you don’t request Direct Pay before your visit, you may have to pay for care upfront. Even if it costs more than your deductible, copay, or coinsurance.

How to request Direct Pay.

  • Use the Member Portal or mobile app to find a provider and schedule your appointment.
  • Complete the Direct Pay form found in the quick links bar on the homepage.
  • Or call the number on the back of your ID card.

Please contact us at least 48 hours before your appointment. This gives us time to arrange Direct Pay with your provider.
